WHISTLE, AND I’LL COME TO YOU
Set in the striking Sussex coastline, cast against sheer cliff faces and a majestic lighthouse, Whistle, And I’ll Come To You, is a modernisation of the evocative, well known, and much regarded M.R. James ghost story.
Ann Parkin, a successful but self-absorbed academic, discovers an antiquated whistle, inscribed with the words, “Quis est iste qui venit” (“Who is this who is coming?”). When blown, this whistle has terrible consequences. What follows is a haunting depiction of somebody in the mists of a psychological breakdown, driven to the edge when their steadfast beliefs are challenged. This is a tale of hubris, grief, guilt and the supernatural.
